What is eSIM and How Does it Work?

eSIM, or Embedded SIM, is a digital version of the traditional physical SIM card. It’s embedded directly into your device, eliminating the need for a physical card. This allows you to activate new plans and carriers directly from your device, giving you the flexibility to switch as needed.

Activating your eSIM

Visit one of our MTN stores to have your device evaluated for eligibility by one of our customer Support agents. They will guide you through the setup process. If you need assistance locating a store, please visit our Store locater to find the closest one to you.

Please note the following:

  • Your device must be eSIM-enabled.
  • You have an existing MTN consumer contract (Hybrid). Prepaid customers, please visit your nearest MTN store.
  • You will need to have access to Wi-Fi to continue with your eSIM activation process, as your current physical SIM will be disconnected from the MTN network.
  • eSIM activation will take between 2 to 5 mins to complete.
