Eligibility: The MTN XtraTime Recovery Solution (“XtraTime Recovery”) applies exclusively to MTN prepaid customers (“Customers”) who have maintained active service on the MTN network for a minimum of ninety (90) days. To access available offers, the Customer’s main account balance must not exceed one Zambian Kwacha (K1). The credit limit extended to each Customer shall be determined by MTN, based on factors including but not limited to the Customer’s tenure on the network and frequency of recharges.
Accessing XtraTime: Customers may access the XtraTime service by dialing the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) code *118#. XtraTime allows Customers to borrow airtime credit when their main account balance is insufficient, subject to their approved credit limit. A service charge will be applied to each successful XtraTime loan request, as follows:
Fifteen percent (15%) of the borrowed airtime amount for loans of K1 or K2.
Ten percent (10%) of the borrowed airtime amount for loans exceeding K2.
Repayment: Customers are obligated to repay borrowed XtraTime airtime by recharging their accounts through any authorized physical or electronic recharge channel. Recharges will be applied first to settle the outstanding XtraTime balance, with any remaining credit added to the Customer’s main account. In instances where the recharge amount is less than the outstanding XtraTime balance, subsequent recharges shall be utilized to recover the remaining balance until the loan is fully repaid. If a customer with an outstanding XtraTime loan purchases a bundle, they will be granted one grace period where the bundle purchase will not be used to offset the loan. However, any subsequent recharges or bundle purchases will be subject to XtraTime Recovery until the loan is fully repaid.
XtraTime Recovery: MTN reserves the right to recover outstanding XtraTime balances through the XtraTime Recovery Solution. This solution enables MTN to deduct outstanding balances from future airtime or bundle purchases made by the Customer, across all current and future bundle purchase channels. If the Customer’s account balance is sufficient, the full outstanding amount will be recovered, with any excess credited to the Customer’s main airtime account. In cases where the account balance is insufficient, a partial recovery will be executed.
Notifications: MTN shall provide extensive service usage notifications to Customers regarding any outstanding XtraTime loan balances, indicating that recovery will be initiated upon the Customer’s next recharge or bundle purchase.
General: Any airtime credit present in the Customer’s main account prior to requesting an XtraTime loan shall be applied to partially offset the requested loan amount. The XtraTime bundle provided to the Customer may differ slightly from the original bundle due to the application of the service fee.
